SERVICE "The spiritual potential of a woman in part lies in the transformation of attachments to relationships of love and service," Angela tells me. "She doesn't need to transmute her energy, or do practices designed to pull her away from the limitations of living her life, in the way men sometimes do. She needs to accept, and really live from, the unconditional love and longing that manifest in her life, in her work, and her relationships with her children, her partner, her teacher, and her connection to nature. This way she allows her spiritual essence, her love and longing for God, her desire for union with the source, to transform her attachments within those relationships." "Yes, so often we want to get away from the demands of life; we think we can be free if we leave them behind. And so many spiritual traditions - monastic traditions, for example - encourage this. But for many women cutting off from life cuts off the energy of transformation, the love that lives inside us. To accept our limitations, our attachments, our simple human needs, provides the ground for offering our lives back to God, and He helps us become free if it is His will." "Real love, God's free and limitless love, is in all of us. It is in our bodies and connects us in service to something far beyond our egos. As attachments mature into unconditional love and servanthood, this divine consciousness in our bodies awakens. This is the natural source of our understanding of real love, of the love for God and God's love for us. We don't need to look for it because it is already inside us."
